JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE Elementary Music Teacher
REPORTS TO Building Administrator
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in education
- State of Iowa teaching certification, K-8 Music
- Mandatory Reporter: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse certification
- Must clear criminal record check and child and adult abuse check (unless on Initial License)
- Able to prioritize, organize, and accomplish assigned work
- Able to work independently and/or as a team
- Able to recognize problems, determine causes, and take appropriate action
- Able to supervise and direct employees
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plans a program of study that meets Iowa Core Standards and the individual needs, abilities, and interests of students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to elementary students.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
- Cooperates with other staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and delivery of instruction
- Employs instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated goals.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students utilizing multiple sources and provides progress reports as required.
- Works in partnership with families, establishing and maintaining regular communication.
- Diagnoses learning problems of students, seeking assistance of available specialists as needed.
- Consults with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
- Develops rules of classroom behavior and procedure
- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for associates and/or volunteers.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in location and times designated
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Makes provision for reasonable requests from parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Keeps adequate student records as required by district
- Maintains proper inventory records.
- Attends in-service training and school meetings as appropriate.
- Performs other duties deemed necessary by the board.
- Operates in accordance with board policies.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with others.
- Collaborates with staff and parents to develop and implement Individual Education Plans.
- Maintains IEP records as required.
- Completes district mandatory trainings as required

- Wage and work year to be established by Administration
- Employment per Board Policies and Administrative Rules and regulations
Evaluation:
- Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with board policy
- Evaluation is the responsibility of the building principal or designee
