The Department of Music at Carleton College invites applications for a benefit-eligible position (0.60 FTE, non-tenure-track) as part-time Instructor of Voice beginning September 1, 2026. The primary teaching activity involves private lessons in voice, approximately 12 hours per week; Carleton’s classes are taught on a schedule of three 10-week terms per year with a winter break spanning from Thanksgiving through New Years. We seek a dynamic teacher and performer with an understanding of, and commitment to, teaching voice in an undergraduate liberal arts setting.
The ideal candidate will: possess experience teaching both Classical and Contemporary Commercial Music; demonstrate successful teaching with non-music majors and music majors; enjoy teaching students who range in skills from beginner to advanced. The successful applicant will hold, at minimum, a Master’s degree in music or commensurate experience as a performer and educator. The primary teaching activity involves weekly, private lessons in voice, but may also include administrative oversight of vocal activities in the department.
