The Behavioral Health Clinician (BHC), as part of the care team, triages and provides short-term interventions to children, adolescents and their caregivers with medical and behavioral health needs within the pediatric setting. The BHC provides consultation to providers and staff as requested. Additionally, the BHC provides education and referrals for further treatment to patients and their families within the pediatric setting.

Essential Functions
Provide consultation to and coordinate care of patients with care team. Identify, refer and advocate for patients needing specialty Behavioral Health services and other services as needed.
Assess the clinical status of patients referred by pediatric providers through brief, consultative contacts.
Demonstrate a strengths-based approach in their work with providers and in their conceptualization of children's behaviors.
Provide brief, solution-focused behavioral interventions with active development of a behavioral change plan to improve medical and psychosocial outcomes for children/adolescents and their families with chronic medical conditions and co-occurring psychosocial stressors/psychiatric diagnoses.
Teach patients and caregivers about care, prevention and treatment enhancement techniques.

Assist pediatric providers in providers in recognizing and treating mental disorders and psychosocial challenges.
Assess the clinical status of patients referred by pediatric providers through brief consultative contacts.
Work with pediatric care team to efficiently and effectively treat and manage patients with chronic and new onset emotional and/or health problems.
