Job Overview

Carl’s Door Service, Inc. is looking for a Service Manager to join our team! We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable individual who is comfortable managing multiple priorities and enjoys solving problems.

The primary responsibility of the Service Manager is to schedule and dispatch our technicians, ensuring that our daily service calls are organized, communicated, and completed as efficiently as possible. This position requires someone who can think quickly, stay calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and make good decisions when unexpected situations arise.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, be easy to work with, and have the ability to manage office staff while maintaining a positive and professional work environment.

Industry experience is beneficial but not required. We are willing to train the right person who has the right attitude, work ethic, organizational skills, and ability to learn.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Schedule and dispatch technicians for daily service calls while considering customer needs, technician availability, location, skill set, and urgency.
  • Monitor the daily schedule and make adjustments throughout the day as needed due to emergencies, cancellations, delays, or unexpected changes.
  • Communicate with technicians throughout the day to provide job information, updates, customer requests, and scheduling changes.
  • Coordinate with customers regarding appointments, arrival times, scheduling changes, and service-related questions.
  • Problem-solve scheduling and service issues quickly and efficiently while maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Prioritize emergency and time-sensitive service calls appropriately.
  • Manage and supervise office staff, ensuring that daily responsibilities are being completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Work closely with mechanics and technicians to help keep the service department running smoothly.
  • Maintain accurate records, work orders, schedules, customer information, and other operational documentation.
  • Oversee office and service-related inventory needs, including monitoring inventory levels, ordering supplies, receiving materials, and communicating inventory needs to management.
  • Identify potential scheduling, staffing, inventory, or operational problems before they become larger issues.
  • Report important operational issues, scheduling concerns, staffing needs, and other matters to upper-level management.
  • Answer and manage multi-line telephone calls while assisting customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Handle over-the-counter customer transactions and assist walk-in customers when needed.
  • Respond to customer emails and other forms of communication in a timely and professional manner.
  • Enter and maintain information accurately using our company software and computer systems.
  • Work as part of a team to maintain a positive, organized, and productive office environment.

  • Previous experience in scheduling, dispatching, customer service, management, or office administration is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

What We Are Looking For

This position is best suited for someone who enjoys being the person who keeps everything moving.

Our Service Manager needs to be able to look at the day's schedule, recognize potential problems, communicate with technicians and customers, and make adjustments when necessary. No two days are exactly the same, so the ability to adapt, prioritize, and solve problems is extremely important.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, personable, and confident, but who also understands the importance of teamwork. You will be working closely with our technicians, mechanics, office staff, customers, vendors, and management, so being able to communicate and work well with others is essential.

Industry Experience

Knowledge of the garage door and door service industry is very beneficial but not required.

We have a knowledgeable team that will help train the right candidate on our industry, procedures, software, equipment, and service operations. We are more interested in finding someone with the right work ethic, attitude, organizational ability, communication skills, and problem-solving mindset.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
