- Accounting & Month-End Close
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper accounting treatment of all transactions in accordance with GAAP.
- Lead and execute the monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of processing.
- Review and approve coding of invoices, monthly account reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Ensure bank reconciliations and cash management procedures are completed accurately and on time.
- Prepare monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, restricted funds, departmental P&L) and distribute to Leadership and Board.
- Provide variance analysis, key insights, and recommendations to department heads and leadership team.
- Maintain internal financial dashboards and reporting tools to track KPIs.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, partnering with department heads to develop and finalize budgets.
- Monitor budget performance, investigate variances, and recommend cost-saving measures or reallocation.
- Assist with periodic reforecasts and long-range planning.
- Manage the annual audit and 990 preparation, providing all necessary schedules and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and maintain a strong system of internal controls.
- Review and update policies and procedures to mitigate risk and maintain operational efficiency.
- Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax and labor regulations.
- Supervise HR operations, including compensation, benefits administration, and compliance with employment law.
- Supervise IT operations, including vendor relationships, system security, and user support.
- Ensure IT solutions meet organizational needs in a cost-effective and secure manner.
- Partner with IT providers on system upgrades, security reviews, and technology planning.
- Supervise finance and HR staff, providing coaching, development, and performance management. Oversees IT operations and vendor relationship with Cedarstone.
- Collaborate with the President and Leadership Team to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Participate in staff and leadership meetings as a representative of finance, HR, and IT functions.
- Identify and implement process improvements across finance, HR, and IT to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay current on best practices and relevant regulatory changes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
- MBA or advanced coursework in finance a plus.
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including management of a full-cycle accounting function.
- Experience overseeing HR and IT operations preferred.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with HRIS and IT systems preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present financial and operational information clearly.
