Caring Hearts of Ohio is a 4-5 bed youth group for boys ages 8-18. We are dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for our residents. Our mission is to support children and adolescents in achieving their full potential through compassionate care and structured guidance.
Role and Responsibilities:
The Youth Support Leader is responsible for providing daily supervision, mentorship, care, and support to boys that have behavioral health challenges. This role is vital in helping youth develop life skills, manage behavior, and achieve emotional and social stability within a structured and nurturing environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising , supporting and engaging with youth during daily routines such as hygiene, chores, hobbies, meals, school and recreational activities to ensure safety and compliance with house rules
- Provide positive role modeling and mentoring
- Delivering services and maintaining daily operations of the group home.
- Document daily progress notes, incident reports, and shift logs accurately before the end of each shift.
- Orienting new residents to the program, including daily routines, expectations, and rights.
- Conducting reasonable searches for residents leaving/returning for visits or appointments, as directed.
- Ensuring a therapeutic, safe, and clean environment, including housekeeping and meal preparation.
- Promote a respectful and inclusive home environment
- Implement behavior support plans and de-escalate situations using trauma-informed practices.
- Conducting 30-minute bed checks during sleeping hours.
- Transporting youth to appointments, school, and activities as needed using personal vehicles, with mileage reimbursement provided.
- Dispensing medications and documenting dosages.
- Participating in mandatory training, meetings, and ongoing professional development.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Schedule:
We are currently seeking qualified PRN (as-needed) staff to provide coverage for all shifts. Scheduling needs may be arranged in advance; however, candidates should be prepared to accommodate last-minute assignments due to unforeseen staff call-offs.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
- At least one year of experience working with youth with challenging behaviors
- Strong leadership, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible schedule to meet program demands.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, and stand.
- Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a clean driving record.
- Pass BCI/FBI background check, National Sex Offender Search, and other screenings.
- Negative TB test result within the past year.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification and additional required training (training provided during orientation).
- Three non-relative references.
Preferred Skills:
- Trauma-Informed Care and Safe Crisis Management training.
- Knowledge of behavior interventions and therapeutic practices.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
