Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Caregiver's to join our agency. In this vital role, you will provide personalized support to children with diverse learning needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special education requirements. You will provide support by implementing individualized care plans, assisting with daily activities (hygiene, meals, dressing), fostering social skills, and managing behavioral needs. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe, calm environment, facilitating communication, managing therapies, and coordinating with families & professionals.
Duties
- Assist in implementing individualized care plans tailored to each child's unique needs.
- Utilize visual aids, picture cards, or alternative methods for non-verbal children as needed
- Support children with disabilities by providing one-on-one assistance during activities, ensuring they engage fully and safely in learning experiences.
- Use effective behavior management strategies to promote positive conduct and support emotional regulation among children with challenging behaviors.
- Help create a nurturing environment by managing routines, supporting early childhood development principles, and fostering social-emotional growth.
- Implementing behavioral plans, recognizing triggers, and managing sensory issues to create a calm, safe environment.
- Collaborate with Nurses, therapists and parents to monitor progress and adapt instructional strategies as needed for each child's success.
- Maintain detailed records of children's activities, progress reports, and behavior logs to ensure compliance standards and legal requirements.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, meal prep/feeding, etc.
- Observe and document patient behavior & health status through accurate record-keeping
Requirements
- Autism Certificate (AC): For professionals working with autistic individuals, covering behavior, IEP development, and parent communication. Equivalent experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or special needs will also be considered.
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- The ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and other special needs populations.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with therapists, parents, and specialists.
- Ability to manage behavior positively while fostering an inclusive atmosphere.
- Certification or training in behavior management techniques is a plus; ongoing professional development encouraged.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Training in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is preferred
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
