Job Summary
The Lead Caregiver provides high-level caregiving support and serves as a reliable resource for filling critical or emergency shifts. This role ensures quality care for clients with complex needs and supports the office through flexibility, professionalism, and strong caregiving skills. The Lead Caregiver demonstrates adaptability, leadership, and commitment to the company’s mission of providing exceptional in-home care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on care to clients, including those with critical care needs
- Cover open, last-minute, or emergency shifts as needed, including nights and weekends
- Deliver personal care, assistance with mobility, and help with bathing, grooming, and toileting
- Prepare meals, assist with special diets, and perform light housekeeping
- Provide transportation for appointments or errands as authorized
- Support medication reminders or nurse-delegated tasks as permitted
- Engage clients through companionship and daily activities
- Document care provided and maintain accurate records in electronic systems
- Communicate effectively with the office team and report any changes in client condition
- Attend quarterly quality improvement meetings as the caregiver representative
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong caregiving skills with the ability to handle changing schedules and client needs
- Excellent communication, reliability, and time management
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve in dynamic situations
- Proficient with basic computer programs and electronic documentation
- Compassionate, professional, and team-oriented demeanor
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- CNA certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of caregiving experience, including critical care or high-need clients
Working Conditions
- Work performed in clients’ homes within a 30-mile radius of the office
- Requires standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and physical activity throughout the shift
- May encounter varying home environments, pets, or family members
- Must be available for flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends and NOC
