Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Support residents during meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met with attention to safety and dietary restrictions.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning duties within residents’ living spaces and common areas.
- Document care activities accurately in resident records, including progress notes, medication logs, and incident reports.
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation.
- Follow established protocols for emergency situations by administering first aid, CPR, or calling emergency services when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs.
- Uphold all safety standards related to assisted living, nursing home care, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
Skills
- Proven experience in group home settings, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home & community care environments.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately.
- Strong understanding of medication administration procedures and HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent communication skills for working effectively with residents, families, healthcare teams, and social workers.
- Familiarity with care plans development and documentation processes for long-term or short-term care scenarios.
- Competence in basic cooking skills for meal preparation aligned with dietary guidelines.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team dedicated to resident-centered care.
- Certifications such as CPR/First Aid are preferred; ongoing training in patient monitoring and assisted living best practices is encouraged.
