Caring Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced, full-time receptionist to join our team. The position would include evening hours but no weekends for a total of approximately 33 hours a week. The right person for this job must love animals and dealing with the public. Main duties will include, performing client transactions, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and cleaning. Experience in a veterinary clinic & knowledge of Impromed software is a plus but is not mandatory. Must be a team player and have the ability to follow directions with minimal supervision. This position is long-term and could become a management position for the right candidate.

Full Job Description:
The Receptionist is responsible for representing the hospital through client service. Receptionists must possess good critical thinking and problem-solving skills. They must be compassionate, have a positive attitude, and teamwork skills. Excellent client communication skills and commitment to outstanding client service are essential.
Receptionists are responsible for:
Patient Care:
· Executing safe but effective animal restraint using Fear Free techniques.
· Weighing every animal that comes in, each time they come in, and making sure the weight is updated in the computer.
· Taking accurate history and temperature, if needed, and entering it into the computer.
Client Service:
· Proper telephone skills, answering quickly, speaking professionally, entering conversations into the record, and take messages appropriately.
· Client education including: Types of prevention we carry (flea/tick/heartworm), prescription food, and medications.
· Updating client information in computer including email, cell number, and correct address. Maintaining all client records including linking or scanning documents to client file.
· Client correspondence including reminder cards, sympathy cards, and welcome cards.
· Performing call backs in a timely manner and entering notes into the computer.
· Creating and explaining estimates to owners.
· Scheduling appointments
· Greeting clients when they walk in the door, checking them in, and checking them out.
· Going over forms and paperwork before and after surgery. Knowledge of discharge instructions and possible complications.
General Duties:
· Understanding the types of medications kept in hospital and where they are located. Also, understanding of commonly used abbreviations like BID, OU, and q24h. Filling prescriptions when labels are printed.
· Advanced knowledge of the computer system with the ability to train other staff members, troubleshoot problems, and add/maintain inventory.
· Setting up laboratory work including: Parasite screens, urinalysis, and skin and ear cytology’s.
· Restocking food in lobby. Getting food for clients from kennel if needed.
· Knowledge and utilization of the tag reorder system for inventory and supplies.
· Keeping all areas of the hospital clean and tidy. Cleaning each room and checking the reception area between patients. Performing laundry as needed.
· Assist in maintenance of outside of hospital as needed.
· Help veterinarians or other staff members accomplish other tasks to make hospital run smoothly.
· Knowledge of other job descriptions and assist in training new staff.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
