Role Description This is an on-site contract role for an Artist based in Charlotte, NC. The Artist will create original visual artwork aligned with Carillon Tower’s brand, programs, and exhibition themes, including pieces for displays, events, marketing materials, and educational initiatives. Day-to-day work includes sketching and conceptual development, producing finished pieces using traditional or digital media, and adapting artwork for various formats such as prints, signage, and digital assets. The Artist will collaborate with curators, marketers, and event coordinators to plan and refine visual concepts, ensure consistency across projects, and meet project timelines. Responsibilities also include preparing artwork for installation, participating in reviews and feedback sessions, and maintaining an organized portfolio of work and project documentation.
Qualifications
- Strong artistic foundation, including drawing, painting, or illustration skills, and the ability to develop concepts from rough sketches to finished work.
- Proficiency with relevant tools and materials (e.g., traditional media, digital illustration or design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar).
- Ability to interpret creative briefs, incorporate feedback, and adapt artistic style to different themes and audiences.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively in an on-site, collaborative environment.
- Strong visual communication abilities, attention to detail, and a portfolio demonstrating a range of completed artistic projects.
- Comfort working in public or community-oriented settings; experience with exhibitions, public art, or educational programs is a plus.
- Relevant education or training in Fine Arts, Illustration, Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Willingness to adhere to safety guidelines and installation standards for on-site displays and events.
