Carpenter I

1. Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, the Carpenter worker assists in the maintenance, repair, refurbishment, renovation, remodeling and general upkeep in order to keep the facility functional and attractive to prospective customers. This person performs preventive maintenance work that could involve the use and operation of complex and highly technical equipment and techniques. The Carpenter exhibits sound decision-making skills, productivity and professionalism.  Does not engage in, nor allows others on the staff to work in a hazardous manner or under hazardous conditions.

1. Essential Job Functions

1. Assist in the maintenance, repair, refurbishment, renovation, remodeling and general upkeep in order to keep the facility functional and attractive to prospective customers.
2. Complete assigned work orders for general repair within assigned timeframe in order to achieve the utmost operational efficiency of the Hotel, its safety, and its equipment. 
3. Perform systematic checks and inspections to aid in the upkeep of the hotel and assist in the established proactive maintenance program in order to prevent malfunctions, breakdowns and general depreciation. 
4. Immediately and courteously, respond to guests needs in order to repair and/or resolve room maintenance requests and problems as they arise. 
5. Maintain tools, workspaces and equipment in safe, secure and good condition in order to reduce accidents and to prolong their use. 
6. Repair and/or change room locks for the security of hotel and guests. 
7. Assist department in maintaining safety equipment and emergency procedures for the safety of all guests and associates. 
8. Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous manner at all times. 
9. All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
10. Capable of dealing with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs.
11. Fulfill Carillon Miami Beach Standards for service to guests, residents and club members.
12. Responsible for PPE (personal protective equipment) use and daily maintenance.
13. Adhere to Carillon Miami Beach Facility Lock and Key policies and procedures.
14. Support the HotSOS work order system in implementation and adherence, including the prioritization of assigned work.  Originate work orders to remedy problems and/or faulty conditions and assure the quality and timeliness of the remedial work.   
15. Maintain open and professional communication between management and staff.  Follow procedures in the use and maintenance of all communication equipment and devices. 
16. Read, write and communicate instructional and other technical terms, details and concepts in the English language, that are consistent with the job requirements of a painter/carpenter.
17. Support the Hazard Communication Program of the facility. This includes a thorough knowledge of MSDS, product labeling, storing and handling of materials etc.
18. Assist in execution and quality of the work assigned to the Engineering Maintenance team.
19. All activities, work, actions and time are documented in writing, on a daily basis.
