Caribou Medical Center is now Hiring a Physical Therapy Aide / Rehabilitation Assistant (PRN)

The PRN (as needed) Physical Therapy Aide supports the delivery of patient care services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. This position assists with patient preparation, treatment area setup, equipment operation and maintenance, and administrative support functions. The Physical Therapy Aide helps ensure a safe, clean, and efficient therapy environment while providing excellent customer service to patients and their families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Care and Department Support

• Assist in preparing patients for therapy treatments under the direction of a Physical Therapist.
• Prepare, organize, and sanitize treatment rooms before and after patient use.
• Maintain therapy equipment and ensure proper operation and cleanliness.
• Support patient mobility, transfers, ambulation training, and treatment activities as directed.
• Assist with maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
• Participate as an active member of the Rehabilitation Department.
• Attend departmental meetings and trainings as required.
• Assist with the development and implementation of new programs and services.
• Support community outreach and public education initiatives when requested.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
• Schedule appointments and assist with patient registration and check-in procedures.
• Answer incoming telephone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
• Provide clerical support to therapists and office staff as needed.

Safety and Infection Prevention

• Follow all hospital and department safety policies and procedures.
• Adhere to Standard Precautions, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Clean and disinfect whirlpools, treatment equipment, and other patient-contact surfaces.
• Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
• Utilize proper body mechanics and approved assistive devices during patient handling, transfers, and mobility assistance.

• Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
• Demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving skills by following established communication channels.
