Caribou Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Financial Representative to join our team. Essential Functions & Responsibilities
As a Financial Representative, you will:
- Proactively contact patients with outstanding balances to discuss accounts and available payment options prior to referral to collections
- Clearly and compassionately explain billing statements, insurance coverage, and patient financial responsibility
- Negotiate payment plans and secure financial commitments to support timely collections
- Verify insurance coverage and assist patients in understanding their benefits
- Accurately document all patient interactions, payment arrangements, and follow-up actions in the system
- Collaborate with billing, coding, and collections teams to resolve discrepancies and prevent premature collection referrals
- Provide information to patients regarding financial assistance programs and charity care, when applicable
- Respond promptly and professionally to billing and payment inquiries by phone, email, or in person
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including HIPAA and fair debt collection practices
- Support departmental goals related to reducing accounts receivable and improving cash collections
Other duties may be assigned as business needs evolve.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two (2) years of collections experience
- Computer proficiency
Preferred
- Basic math skills
- Strong customer service experience
