What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Estimator position at Carey Electric, Inc.?
Senior Estimator at Carey Electric
Are you the kind of person who sees a set of plans and starts figuring out how it'll get built?
Do you know how to spot a scope gap before anyone else does?
If so, you might be exactly who we need. At Carey Electric, we're looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team.
If you love solving complex puzzles, taking full ownership, and seeing your bids turn into real-life, successful projects, this is your seat at the table.
Why Carey Electric is Your Next Right Move
You'll be part of a tight-knit team that values ownership, precision, and problem-solving. No micromanagement. No drama. Just people who take pride in their work and back each other for life.
Our leadership has your back. You'll never be left in the dark or hung out to dry.
We believe in continuous improvement and provide autonomy to do your best work.
Your expertise will be trusted, respected, and counted on.
You'll see the projects you bid on come to life, and you'll stay involved all the way through.
What You Can Expect As Our Senior Estimator
Imagine walking into a place where your input is not only welcomed but expected. Your brain gets stretched, your work gets noticed, and your teammates care. It's a place where:
Accuracy isn't optional; it's celebrated.
You have space to focus and think, without constant interruptions.
"CAN'T" isn't in the vocabulary. If there's a problem, we figure it out together.
You get to make real contributions that matter to the company and to the clients we serve.
Who Shouldn't Apply
This job isn't for everyone, and we're okay with that.
If you drop the baton after a bid is submitted, this isn't your place.
If you blame vendors or others instead of taking ownership, stop reading now.
If you throw vague numbers into bids to "cover your bases," it won't work here.
If deadlines feel optional to you, we won't be a good match.
You'll Fit Right In If
You triple-check your takeoffs because "close enough" doesn't cut it.
You take pride in clear, complete bids with assumptions and notes that clearly show your thought process.
You stay cool under pressure, speak up early, and keep your word without reminders.
You treat every bid as if it were already a live project in the field.
You're a builder at heart who knows how work really gets done.
Here's What Success Looks Like As a Senior Estimator
You'll lead the charge from concept to kickoff:
Deliver competitive, accurate, and profitable bids that reflect real-world costs.
Manage bid schedules and priorities with precision. Nothing slips through the cracks.
Ensure continuity between estimating and execution, staying available post-award.
Maintain and improve estimating processes, tools, and templates.
Serve as a trusted expert for PMs, field teams, and leadership.
What You Need To Succeed
5 years of commercial or industrial electrical estimating
Experience in the field or deep knowledge of real-world job site conditions
Proficiency with Conest and Excel
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to handle multiple bids and shifting priorities
Valid driver's license and willingness to visit job sites as needed
Must pass a standard background check
