Carex is partnering with a healthtech startup partner to hire a junior HR Generalist for a part-time, 4-month contract opportunity local to Madison, WI, with likely extension. This role is ideal for an early-career HR professional who is detail-oriented, highly responsive, and comfortable supporting recruiting and HR coordination needs in a fast-paced startup environment.
This position is expected to be 10–15 hours per week and will support hiring workflows, documentation, compliance-related tasks, and communication with hiring managers.

What You'll Do
- Support recruiting and HR coordination activities across a fast-moving, growing organization.
- Assist with translating job descriptions into clear, accurate, and engaging job postings.
- Help guide hiring managers to align candidate evaluation with approved job descriptions and postings.
- Support appropriate interview protocol by helping hiring managers understand compliant interview questions and what should not be asked.
- Complete I-9 and E-Verify tasks accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized HR and recruiting documentation with strong attention to detail.
- Communicate promptly and professionally with internal stakeholders, candidates, and hiring teams.
- Use tools such as Slack, ATS platforms, and other HR or recruiting systems to support daily workflows.
- Adapt quickly as priorities, processes, and business needs evolve.
- Some HR, recruiting coordination, or HR generalist experience, ideally in a smaller or fast-paced organization.
- Understanding of appropriate interview practices, including compliant and non-compliant interview questions.
- Working knowledge of I-9 and E-Verify requirements, with the ability to complete related tasks accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to complete documentation thoroughly and promptly.
- Excellent follow-up skills, including timely and professional communication.
- Comfort working in environments where priorities may shift quickly.
- Tech-savvy approach with the ability to learn platforms such as Slack, ATS systems, and other tools quickly.
- Ability to partner professionally with hiring managers and provide guidance in a clear, helpful manner.
