Cloud Developer (Contract-to-Hire)

Carex is partnering with Financial Services organization to hire a Cloud Developer (Software Developer II) for a contract-to-hire opportunity on their growing engineering team. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys working across cloud-native microservices, modern JavaScript frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines while collaborating in an Agile environment.

As a Cloud Developer, you'll work as an Individual Contributor responsible for estimating, planning, and managing your own development tasks while delivering high-quality solutions across sprint cycles. You'll partner closely with Tech Leads, Product Owners, and Scrum Masters to build and maintain cloud-based business systems that power key customer experiences.

What You’ll Do

Software Development (85%)

• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain high-quality software solutions across cloud platforms.
• Build services and front-end components using Node.js, React, TypeScript, and modern microservices patterns.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices.
• Maintain 80% automated test coverage in a CI/CD environment.
• Document code, architecture, and solution designs.
• Participate in pull requests, peer reviews, and established branching/merging workflows.
  
  
  

Collaboration & Agile Development (10%)

• Work with other developers and Tech Leads to ensure consistent development standards.
• Communicate daily progress, risks, and blockers with Scrum Masters and Product Owners.
• Support sprint planning, estimations, grooming, and retrospectives.
  
  
  

Continuous Learning & Knowledge Sharing (5%)

• Stay current with modern development tools, cloud technologies, and best practices.
• Learn and apply new technical skills based on business or tech needs.
• Share knowledge with teammates and contribute to improving engineering practices.
  
  
  

What You Bring:

• BS in MIS, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years of professional software development experience.
• 3 years of experience with a combination of:
• Node.js, React, TypeScript, browser-based data persistence
• Azure (preferred) or AWS cloud environments
• Microservices architecture and distributed systems
• SQL Server (2016 )
• Strong experience working with Git or similar version-control systems.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and modern application security principles.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and working within automated CI/CD pipelines.
  
  
  

Nice to Have:

• Experience in FinTech, digital banking, or lending environments.
• Mobile development experience with React Native, Swift, or Android SDK.
• Familiarity with serverless functions, Azure PaaS offerings, or cloud-native observability tools.
