Environmental Aide

Job Summary

Responsible for the cleaning and disinfecting of patient, non-patient corridors, lounges, offices, and other assigned floor areas. To burnish corridors, patient rooms and other floor areas on a scheduled basis. To collect and transport trash and regulated medical waste from designated collection sites to the designated area for storage and pick-up.

Essential Functions

• Prepare equipment and chemicals for daily use and report to the assigned work area.
• Clean and disinfect corridor floors, lounges, nursing stations, and other assigned areas by dust mopping and wet mopping daily.
• Burnish corridor, patient, and other areas as per schedule.
• Remove trash from designated collection sites and transport it to a designated area.
• Remove regulated medical waste from the designated collection site and transport to assigned area for storage and pick-up.
• Hang cubicle curtains, draperies, and shower curtains as needed.
• Assist in moving of furniture as requested.
• Maintain equipment daily and report any needed repairs to the supervisor.
• Inspection of the assigned area—report safety and patient concerns to the immediate supervisor.

Minimum Education/Certifications

None

Minimum Work Experience

1 year or more experience in hospital housekeeping

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Must be willing to work holidays, weekends and provide additional coverage as needed
