Laborer - Landscape Enhancements

Position Summary

This is Landscape Enhancements; which is very similar to Landscape Construction, except in Construction - it is all brand new installation of landscape. In Enhancements, we have to do remodels on existing Landscape - so there is the need to remove the old landscape before we can build the new upgraded landscape!

At the direction of the crew foreman, members of the landscape enhancements/construction crew memeber will build and install commercial landscape construction including irrigation systems, landscape materials (rock, mulch etc…) trees, shrubs, sod, and special features, based on the project.

Essential Functions

• Perform Landscape Construction Enhancement tasks, including but not limited to: sod, soil and bark installation, replacement, and/or removal; drainage and irrigation installation, and hardscape construction.
• Operate various Landscape Construction Equipment, such as ditch witches, bobcats, and power tools, etc.
• Using hand and/or power tools or equipment to perform a wide range of landscape and irrigation duties including clearing trenches, digging holes, performing handwork as necessary using a pick, shovel, or other hand tools. Will install irrigation, plant vegetation and clean up the worksite.

• Knowledge of landscaping practices and general landscape installation

Education/Experience/Licenses

• 18 years of Age - required
• 1 years experience in LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION – commercial landscape installation – required
• Reliable transportation to be at the jobsite on time daily - required
• A broad working knowledge of commercial irrigation systems and controllers - required
•  HS Diploma or Equivalent - preferred

Work Environment:

• Will work entire shifts outdoors in the Arizona desert environment which includes extreme temperatures and weather conditions including sun, rain, snow, wind
• Will be in direct sunlight for extended periods of time on a daily basis

Physical Requirements:

• Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• In this role you will frequently stand, walk, climb or crouch on narrow and/or slippery surfaces; stoop, kneel, bend to pick up or move objects; walk for long distances and on sloped ground and uneven surfaces; move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles
• Ability to work full shifts outdoors in all types of changing and extreme weather conditions including direct sun, extreme heat including temperatures over 100 degrees for more than one hour at a time, cold, rain and snow
• Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound
• Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
• The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operates machines, and landscaping construction equipment where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performs mechanical or skilled trades. The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment
• The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level
