Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories to determine individual needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols, including IV infusions and medication management.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient care activities thoroughly and efficiently.
- Manage complex clinical procedures such as catheterizations, suturing, tube feeding, ostomy care, and wound management using aseptic techniques.
- Provide specialized care for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, memory care patients, and those in hospice or palliative settings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in emergency medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), trauma centers, or outpatient clinics to coordinate patient treatment plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health coaching, medication administration, discharge planning, and chronic disease management strategies.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Proficiency in working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation.
- Experience with critical care environments including ICU, Level I & II trauma centers, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or emergency room settings.
- Skilled in performing invasive procedures like venipuncture, phlebotomy, catheterization, and sterile processing techniques.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols and HIPAA compliance to ensure patient confidentiality and safety.
- Ability to handle complex cases involving acute pain management, infectious disease care, occupational health issues, or post-acute care needs.
- Demonstrated capability in triage assessment within urgent care or emergency medicine contexts.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health challenges to provide compassionate support.
