The C.A.R.E.S. Day Program, located in South Allentown, is a unique, community-based program where individuals focus on volunteering and recreational activities while maximizing life skills, pre-vocational skills and social skills. Our goal is to ensure that individuals are not just in the community, but are known as a valuable part of their community.
This position is a full-time position. The hours of the program are Monday - Friday from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, with transportation between 8 am - 9 am in the morning and 3pm - 4pm in the afternoon.
As a Direct Support Professional you will take VIP's (that's what we call the participants in our programs!) to the library, bowling, volunteer sites, on picnics, as an example teaching them valuable life skills and creating social/recreation opportunities. Although we follow a program schedule, each day is a new adventure so having the ability to be flexible to scheduling changes is a plus! And there is no need to use your own vehicle, CARES has a fleet of vehicles for transportation.
All candidates must be able to secure PA criminal, FBI, child abuse clearances (at the candidates' expense) and have a valid license and clean driving record.
