What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician & Patient Intake Coordinator: Compounding Pharmacy position at Carepack Pharmacy?
About us
Carepack is a compounding pharmacy. We make personalized medications from raw ingredients, so each patient gets the exact strength and dosage form their prescriber orders. Our specialties include dermatology, pain management, hormone therapy, gastroenterology, and veterinary preparations.
This role combines two things we need every day:
- careful lab work that keeps our compounding accurate and ready for an audit
- warm, organized patient intake that gets every order from prescription to the patient without a hitch
You don’t need to be an expert at both on day one. We’ll train you on the side that’s new to you.
Does this sound like you?
- You have a science background. Maybe a degree in chemistry, biology or biochemistry, or lab or QC experience. You love precise work and want a hands-on career in healthcare.
- You have a patient-care background. Maybe you’ve been a medical assistant, worked a medical front desk, been a pharmacy clerk, or worked as a CNA, EMT or phlebotomist. You’re great with patients and want to learn the science behind the medicine.
If either one is you, we’d like to hear from you.
Why you’ll like it here
- Variety. Part lab, part patient care. No two days are the same.
- Real impact. You’ll be the person patients and provider offices count on to get their medication right and on time.
- A credential that grows your career. We’ll support you in becoming a Florida Registered Pharmacy Technician with company paid registered coursework.
- Your evenings and weekends stay yours. Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:30.
- You’ll keep growing. Paid time off, paid holidays, and continued training in compounding.
Your growth path
- Start: Support patient intake and the lab while you complete a Board-approved pharmacy technician training program.
- Register: Earn your Florida technician registration, with a target of [90] days, and start compounding under pharmacist supervision.
- Grow: Take on more complex formulations, help train new team members, and build your experience in quality and documentation.
What you’ll do
Patient intake coordination
- Be the first point of contact for patients and provider offices, by phone and message, in English and Spanish.
- Set up patient profiles and collect the information each order needs, including demographics, payment and delivery details.
- Follow up with provider offices to get missing patient information.
- Keep patients updated on order status, pickup or shipping, and payment.
- Track open orders from the time a prescription arrives until it’s dispensed, so nothing slips through.
Lab and quality
- Receive and check raw chemicals: lot numbers, expiration dates and Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
- Calibrate balances, and maintain equipment and its logs.
- Keep the lab clean, organized and ready for audits under USP <795>.
- Manage inventory: ordering, stocking, recalls and expiration tracking.
- Support quality documentation, and learn our SOPs and formulation records.
