Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, and aging-related challenges. Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor residents’ health status by observing patient behavior and vital signs, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Administer medications following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and individual preferences; ensure proper food handling and sanitation.
- Operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices safely to support mobility and prevent injury.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing regular cleaning tasks in residents' living areas and shared spaces.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized care plans tailored to each individual’s needs.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for all residents.
Experience
- Candidates should have prior experience working in assisted living facilities, group homes, nursing homes, or home & community care settings.
- Experience with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of first aid, CPR certification, medication administration, patient monitoring, and vital signs measurement is essential.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, long-term care practices, hospice or palliative care is advantageous.
- Candidates must demonstrate patience, strong observational skills, the ability to lift heavy objects safely, and a genuine commitment to providing compassionate patient-centered care.
- 2-year experience working with IDD populations
Education
- GED/High School Diploma required
