Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing care and support to individuals in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, monitoring their health and well-being, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. The Support Specialist will work closely with clients who may have developmental disabilities, dementia, or other health concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to clients in daily activities, including personal care and assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes in health status to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Assist with medication administration as per care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light cleaning duties as needed.
  • Implement care plans developed by healthcare professionals tailored to each client's needs.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive atmosphere.
  • Assist with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
  • Document patient observations accurately to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in caregiving or support roles within home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of first aid and CPR is essential; certification is a plus.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, Alzheimer's disease, or dementia is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of patient monitoring techniques and vital signs assessment.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with physical mobility challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
  • Familiarity with cleaning procedures and maintaining hygiene standards in caregiving settings.
