As part of this effort, the Venture Capital Senior Analyst will play a key role with the sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities, executing on investment theses, and supporting our portfolio companies. The ideal candidate will be eager to work at the intersection of traditional healthcare payer and the innovative health start-up space, and to bring differentiated value to both.
The Venture Capital Senior Analyst will contribute to all workflows, including sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities, assisting portfolio companies, sharing insights across CareFirst and the start-up ecosystem, and building internal team operations.
Essential Functions
While corporate innovation is inherently flexible, we expect the Senior Analyst to work on all or many of these areas:
Pipeline Management and Opportunity Evaluation
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree.
Experience: 2 years venture capital, management consulting, investment banking, product management, business development with a technology company, or equivalent experience.

Pipeline Management and Opportunity Evaluation
- Builds long-term relationships with entrepreneurs that ensure that Healthworx is top of mind through the companys growth. Engages with potential fund investments. Maintains a network of service providers, investors, and other ecosystem players that support deal sourcing and execution.
- Seamlessly maps opportunities to Healthworx strategy and runs investment return models. Supports pieces of diligence and investment memo drafts.
- Supports portfolio companies through discreet projects, including areas like fundraising, advisory, pilots, etc. Supports collaborative work between Healthworx and CareFirst and serves as an ambassador for the company across the organization.
- Supports funds through discreet projects, event attendance, and other opportunities. Connects funds with experts at CareFirst and other Blues to maximize returns and strategic value.
- Supports relationships with Blues and other payers through networks and thought leadership.
- Develops regular integration and events with CareFirst.
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree.

- Experience in the Healthcare/Healthtech industry and a strong network within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- Strong network in the areas of healthcare innovation and venture capital.
- Understanding of startup company economics and the challenges of the startup journey.
- Working knowledge of venture capital deal structures and valuation models.
- Developed financial, quantitative, and analytical skills.
- Previous entrepreneurial and business development experience.
- Focus on developing authentic and meaningful relationships with people.
- Strategic thinking and a penchant for uncovering what is important.
- Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
