Role Description: The Vice Chairman of the Board is a full-time, hybrid leadership role based in Charlotte, NC. This position works closely with the Chairman and Board to shape strategic direction, oversee key initiatives, and ensure alignment with the organization’s mission to support student growth and empowerment. Day-to-day responsibilities include participating in board meetings, reviewing organizational performance, providing guidance to executive leadership, and supporting the development of academic, business, and community programs. The Vice Chairman helps manage governance processes, fosters strong stakeholder relationships, and represents the organization at events, partnerships, and external meetings. This role also contributes to fundraising efforts, policy development, risk management, and the continuous improvement of organizational systems and culture.
Qualifications
- Leadership and governance skills, strategic decision-making, and collaborative leadership.
- Organizational development and planning skills, such as strategy formulation, program oversight, and change management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking, stakeholder engagement, and conflict resolution.
- Experience with education, student organizations, or youth-focused nonprofits, with an understanding of learner-centered environments.
- Financial and operational acumen, including basic budgeting, risk awareness, and performance monitoring.
- Ability to work hybrid in Charlotte, NC, and maintain a consistent presence for meetings, events, and community engagement.
