The Manager, Used Heavy-Duty Trucks leads the Company's Used Truck operations, driving profitability, operational excellence, and market growth. This role develops and executes data-driven strategies informed by industry insight to optimize performance, manage assets effectively, and strengthen partnerships across sales, rental, and wholesale channels. Ensures all Briggs Industrial Solutions standards are adhered to and executed consistent with company direction.
Principal Responsibilities And Duties
- Serve as a strategic partner in developing organizational plans and programs, bringing both business acumen and expertise in the Used Truck market.
- Align Used Truck business objectives with Company goals through strategic planning, sales forecasting, budgeting, inventory management, and resource allocation.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve used sales processes to enhance performance, flexibility, reporting accuracy, and profitability.
- Leverage data-driven insights and market intelligence to analyze competition, trends, and opportunities, translating findings into actionable growth strategies.
- Lead and develop sales teams to achieve targets for profitable sales volume, gross profit, and other key performance objectives.
- Collaborate with Rental Leaders and Used Champions to drive operational excellence, align cross-functional efforts, and ensure seamless business execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesales and auction partners to support buying and selling strategies and expand market reach.
- Manage used truck inventories and asset lifecycle to meet or exceed Company performance standards and maximize asset utilization.
- Coordinate with the Off-Lease team to streamline off-lease processes and optimize asset turnaround.
- Oversee the identification, acquisition, and setup of targeted lease extension assets to support business and customer needs.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends, regulatory developments, and market dynamics to identify growth opportunities and anticipate organizational needs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Basic Knowledge & Competencies:
- Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to use data-driven insights for effective decision-making and performance improvement.
- Proven leadership and people development skills with the ability to inspire, coach, and build high performing teams.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and customer relationship skills across all organizational levels and external partners.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities, including prioritization, execution, and delivery against established deadlines.
- Skilled in problem-solving and root-cause analysis, with the ability to design and implement effective corrective actions.
- Adaptable and innovative mindset, able to respond effectively to changing market conditions and business needs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field and / or equivalent experience required
- 10 years of progressive leadership experience in an integrated business environment with P&L responsibility across sales, marketing, rental, service, and parts operations.
- 7 years of industry experience with a strong understanding of the Used Truck market and wholesale / retail distribution networks.
- Demonstrated financial and operational acumen, including capital investment analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and profitability management.
- Proven success leading and developing remote and cross-functional teams, with a focus on accountability, collaboration, and performance excellence.
- Comprehensive knowledge of used truck sales operations, including systems, processes, reporting and performance metrics.
- Analytical and decisive leader with the ability to prioritize, communicate, and execute strategies to achieve organizational goals
- Standing, walking, lifting, twisting, and bending on a frequent basis
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- May require frequent travel up to 40% of the time
