Summary:
The role serves as a senior client leader and independent owner for a portfolio of captive insurance companies. This role is accountable for end-to-end financial, regulatory, and operational excellence, while also leading client service teams, mentoring colleagues, and elevating delivery standards across RISC.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Client Leadership & Portfolio Ownership
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of captive insurance clients, acting as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders across risk management, finance, tax, legal, and executive leadership.
- Lead client service teams, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery across financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational execution.
- Proactively manage client expectations, anticipate issues, and drive solutions aligned with each client’s business objectives and risk financing strategy.
Financial & Regulatory Oversight
- Own the financial reporting and regulatory compliance for assigned captives, including the preparation, review, and delivery of:
- GAAP and statutory financial statements
- NAIC annual statements and state regulatory filings
- Supporting schedules, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Ensure all filings and reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable domicile regulations and internal governance standards.
- Lead and coordinate business plan changes, working directly with regulators as needed to secure approvals and maintain ongoing compliance.
Governance, Boards & Executive Interaction
- Prepare and present executive-level materials for client Board and Committee meetings, translating technical, financial, and regulatory matters into clear, decision-ready insights.
- Support and advise Boards on solvency, capital adequacy, underwriting performance, and emerging regulatory topics.
- Ensure governance processes and documentation meet both regulatory expectations and internal quality standards.
Service Provider & Market Coordination
- Coordinate and oversee relationships with key external service providers, including:
- Auditors
- Actuaries
- Investment managers
- TPAs and claims administrators
- Brokers, reinsurers, and legal counsel
- Ensure all parties operate cohesively, with clear accountability and alignment to client objectives and deadlines.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Act as a mentor and technical resource to less-experienced team members, reviewing work product, providing guidance, and reinforcing best practices.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of team capabilities by identifying training needs, improving workflows, and supporting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a role model for professional judgment, client communication, and regulatory discipline.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 10 years of captive insurance or closely related experience required.
- Extensive experience with GAAP and statutory accounting, NAIC filings, and captive domiciles.
- CPA, CPA-candidate, or equivalent professional designation strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing

The base salary range for this position is $51,000 – $95,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
