Job Description

STC has an entry level position open supporting our NASA customer at Langley
Research Center (LaRC) in Hampton VA under our MCHFSS contract. The laborer II position is full-time, working on NASA LaRC supporting various tasks in a machine shop environment throughout the Fabrication Branches. STC is excited to find a candidate who is highly motivated, outgoing, desires future opportunities, takes initiative, requires little direction from supervision, communicates and interfaces well with others, pays attention to detail, and appreciates a clean workspace.

Responsibilities
The laborer II is responsible for maintaining a clean workshop environment, forklift operations, overhead cranes, and machine shop safety. Laborer II is expected to maintain an orderly environment around various CNC and Conventional machines (examples: Lathes, Milling Machines, Water Jets, Drill Presses, Band Saws, Lathes). Laborer II will have the opportunity to support and assist senior level fabrication technicians in the execution of various tasks and projects around the center. The candidate is expected to remain flexible to a dynamic work environment and take on new challenges as they are presented.

Job Requirements

Laborer II shall possess the following skills:

Basic communication and interaction with others.
Mechanical skills to support fabrication technicians.
Knowledge of measuring devices such as pull tapes and calipers.
Experience with the safe operation of hand tools such as drills, saws, and
grinders.
Occasional lifting required not to exceed 35 lbs.
Forklift, Boom Lifts, and Overhead Crane experience preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Valid VA Driver’s License required.

Able to successfully pass NASA background check required.
