Job Title: Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I)
Location: Lewisville, TX, 75067
Duration: 3 Months (Possible Extension)
Shift: 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm Sunday - Thursday
Job Summary:
Detail-oriented Specimen Processing Technician I with strong data entry skills and the ability to support high-volume laboratory operations. Responsible for accurate specimen handling, processing, and data management while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and quality benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specimen processing tasks including pre-sort, A-station operations, centrifugation, aliquoting, and imaging/microfilming
- Ensure accurate data entry (minimum 6,000 keystrokes/hour) and proper specimen labeling
- Transport and deliver processed specimens to appropriate laboratory departments
- Maintain strict adherence to CLIA, OSHA, and laboratory compliance regulations
- Verify and understand specimen types and test requirements
- Adapt to frequently changing test orders and compliance guidelines
- Maintain productivity and meet departmental turnaround time goals
- Follow all biohazard safety protocols and infection control standards
- Communicate effectively with laboratory staff and cross-functional teams
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Demonstrate flexibility to meet night shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call requirements
