Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry I
Location: Alamogordo, NM 88310-5210
Duration: 3 Months (Possibilities of extension)
SHIFT: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
START: ASAP
Required Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- RN License in state of employment or compact required.
- PALS and CPI certification preferred.
Type of Patients on the Unit:
- Medical
- Surgical
- Respiratory
Blocked Scheduling Accommodated:
- No
Weekend Requirement:
- Schedules are for 6 weeks at a time.
- Within each 6-week period, 6 weekend shifts are required.
On-Call Requirement:
- 2 call shifts required in each 6-week period.
Floating Requirement / Locations:
- Floating is required when the need arises to:
- Medical/Surgical
- Behavioral Health
- Joint
- Emergency Department
Summary:
The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to focus on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.
Responsibilities:

- Consistent with the ANA Product and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including:
- Assessment
- Diagnosis
- Planning
- Intervention
- Evaluation for assigned patients
- Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patient and families in accordance with their level of practice.
- Using the appropriate protocol, administers medications and treatments; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
- Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
Job Requirements:
Education/Skills:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- RN License in state of employment or compact required.
Position Requirements:
Education/Skills:
- New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member and initial onboarding requirements are validated through successful completion of the designated organizational entry competency validation and a MedSurg-specific competency validation.
- All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation.
- Skills completion and competency completion will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented through the program’s tracking software.
- Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.
- One year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
