Job Summary / Duties:
- The Clinical Nurse (RN) has the responsibility, accountability, and authority to deliver safe, effective, quality, excellent nursing care according to the philosophy and goals/objectives of the Department of Nursing.
- Utilizes Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring, Relationship-Based Care, and Client’s professional nursing practice model to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for all assigned patients.
- Determines patient progress toward goals and uses a therapeutic professional relationship with patients/families and interdisciplinary team to facilitate promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health.
- Provides care according to the specific physiologic, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the patient.
- Supports the mission, vision, values, and expectation of excellence of the organization.
Competency Expectations:
- Transfers scientific knowledge from social, biological, and physical sciences into nursing practice.
- Provides care consistent with the interdisciplinary plan and Relationship-Based Care principles.
- Assesses patient physical and psychosocial condition continuously; formulates nursing diagnosis through observation and information from clients and health team.
- Collaborates with the client to develop a care plan ensuring safety, comfort, hygiene, protection, disease prevention, and restorative measures.
- Performs essential nursing skills, explains treatments, and educates patients and families on care.
- Evaluates care plan effectiveness, monitors client responses, and modifies plan as needed.
- Demonstrates knowledge and safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications.
- Delegates tasks to care team members based on legal scope of practice and capability; supervises nursing care provided by team members.
- Acts as patient advocate by initiating actions to improve healthcare or support patient decision-making.
- Provides culturally competent, age-appropriate, and ethical care within legal standards.
- Coordinates patient care with nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and ancillary care team members.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize effective communication skills to facilitate safe patient handoffs.
- Document nursing care per hospital policies.
- Utilize manual and automated information systems to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Accountable for patient satisfaction and contributing to a positive patient care experience.
- Assist in resolving complaints with immediate resolution when possible; investigate physician, employee, and patient complaints.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
- Perform all physical duties of the job including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills.
- Complete annual organizational requirements for employment.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of acute care experience required.
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing (Associate Degree or BSN accepted).

- AHA BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
