Position: Pre-Analytical Assistant I
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Duration: 2-3 Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00 pm - 3:30 am or 10:00 pm - 6:30 am with Rotational Sat (night shift).
Pay Rate: $17.48/hr. on W2
Job Description:
The Pre-Analytical Assistant I provides general support within the Technical Operations Department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of specimens to support laboratory testing.
Key Responsibilities:

Learn and perform assigned duties in specimen processing, including sorting, racking, centrifugation, aliquoting, pickup, delivery, and storage. May be trained to operate sorters in archive mode.

Identify and resolve problems with specimen types, missing information, or processing issues; escalate when necessary.

Understand and adhere to compliance policies related to test ordering, including use of translation tables, computer systems, and service directories.

Meet quality and production standards within 6 months of training completion.

Complete required documentation accurately, legibly, and on time.

Support departmental performance by reporting to work on time, assisting with staffing needs on weekends, holidays, on-call, or overtime.

Learn additional functions within Technical Operations and Specimen Processing to progress to higher-level roles.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements / Environment:

High School Diploma or GED required; medical background preferred (including clinical laboratory terminology).

Previous experience in a production or laboratory environment preferred.

Basic data entry skills and familiarity with mainframe computers preferred.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to adapt to change and pursue continuous improvement.

Effective verbal and written communication skills at all levels of staff.

Ability to maintain composure under pressure and exercise sound judgment.
