Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the company, interacting directly with patients who visit for routine health services or important diagnostic decisions. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing them for laboratory testing, and ensuring a safe, accurate, and patient-focused experience.
The PSR II builds trust and confidence by clearly explaining procedures and performing venipuncture with skill, safety, and precision. This position emphasizes leadership behaviors, process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy in handling patient information.
Assignments may include work in a doctor’s office, patient service center, or other locations based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and within established timelines under the direction of the area supervisor
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment
- Collect and process clinical and forensic specimens following established procedures
- Verify patient demographic information and ensure proper labeling of specimens in the patient’s presence
- Obtain patient acknowledgment/signature confirming correct labeling
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and the public
- Demonstrate strong organizational commitment and professionalism
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric experience
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed
- Adherence to company policies, including dress code and safety standards
- Strong decision-making skills and sound judgment
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license (if applicable)
- Willingness to travel and work across multiple locations with minimal notice

Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Medical assistant or paramedic training (preferred)
- Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in CA, NV, WA)
Work Experience
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience (including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections)
- 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment (preferred)
- Customer service experience in retail or service settings (preferred)
- Basic keyboard and data entry skills
