Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care through professional blood specimen collection and processing. This role serves as the primary point of contact for patients and ensures accuracy, safety, confidentiality, and a positive patient experience. The PSR II performs clinical and forensic specimen collection while following established procedures and may work in a patient service center, physician office, or other assigned locations based on business needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture, capillary, clinical, and forensic specimen collection accurately and safely

Prepare, label, and process specimens according to established protocols

Verify patient identity, demographics, and initials; obtain patient signature post-venipuncture

Ensure specimen labeling accuracy in the presence of the patient

Maintain accurate records, documentation, and data entry

Explain procedures clearly to patients and establish trust and confidence

Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment

Follow all confidentiality, HIPAA, and patient information accuracy standards

Demonstrate leadership behaviors and commitment to process excellence

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (REQUIRED)

Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (PREFERRED)

Phlebotomy certification (PREFERRED; REQUIRED in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Experience Requirements

1–3 years of phlebotomy experience (REQUIRED), including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections

2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment (PREFERRED)

Customer service experience in a retail or service environment (STRONGLY PREFERRED)

Previous keyboarding and data entry experience
