Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative (PSR) serves as the primary point of contact for patients and represents the organization in a professional, compassionate, and trustworthy manner. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood and other clinical/forensic specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring accuracy, safety, and confidentiality at all times. The PSR creates a positive patient experience while supporting life-defining health decisions.
Key Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and specimen collection (clinical and forensic) following established policies and procedures

Accurately label specimens in the presence of the patient and obtain patient initials/signature post-collection

Verify patient identity and demographic information prior to specimen collection

Prepare, process, and package specimens for laboratory testing

Maintain accurate records, documentation, and required logs

Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients and address questions professionally

Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment

Demonstrate leadership behaviors, process excellence, and attention to detail

Protect patient confidentiality and ensure data accuracy

Promote a positive company image to patients, clients, employees, and the public

Perform daily duties accurately and on time under the direction of an area supervisor

Work Environment & Scheduling

May be assigned to multiple locations based on business needs

Flexible schedule required, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts

Must be available to work full scheduled shifts and arrive on time

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 2–3 years of phlebotomy or patient service experience

Proven expertise in venipuncture, including pediatric and geriatric patients

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making within established procedures

Transportation & Attendance Requirements

Reliable personal transportation is required (public transportation, Uber, or rideshare services are not considered reliable)

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record if applicable
