Council is currently looking for a hardworking and motivated person to join the team for a 2 year traineeship in Horticulture!
Duties
In this role you will be undertaking a Certificate III in Horticulture, as well as learning on the job with such duties as:
- Assist with garden maintenance including weed control, mulching, planting, pruning and watering.
- Assist with collection of rubbish and undertaking general cleanliness of parks and reserves
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of park furniture including park benches, signage, picnic tables, refuse receptacles
- Assist with lawn maintenance including mowing, trimming and fertilising
- Assist with tree maintenance including planting, tree removal, pruning and watering
- Construction and maintenance of both soft and hard landscape features such as pathways, garden edging, paving, retaining walls and other features
- Park Maintenance (including Cook Park, Orange Botanic Gardens and Civic Gardens)
- Tree Care
- Roadside Garden Maintenance (including street and roundabout garden areas)
Interested?
To Be Successful In This Position You Must
- Have a demonstrated interest in Horticulture and the outdoors
- Be able to successfully enrol in and complete a Certificate III in Horticulture as part of a 2 year traineeship
- Have a current Provisional or Class C drivers licence (or be able to obtain within the duration of the traineeship)
- Have a NSW General Construction Induction (White Card) (or be able to obtain prior to commencement)
