Assistant Operations Manager
Position Overview
Coconut Logistics LLC is seeking a reliable, organized, and hands-on Assistant Operations Manager to support daily delivery operations, driver management, administrative functions, and fleet readiness. This position works closely with the Operations Manager to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent daily operations.
Location: Danbury, CT Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: $50,000/year
Essential Job Functions
Operations
- Assist with the daily planning and execution of delivery operations.
- Coordinate driver schedules, route assignments, attendance, and staffing.
- Monitor daily delivery operations and driver performance.
- Support drivers with route, delivery, vehicle, and operational issues.
- Conduct daily driver meetings and communicate operational and safety expectations.
- Assist with driver onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
- Assist the Operations Manager with resolving daily operational issues and maintaining service levels.
Administrative
- Maintain accurate driver and employee records, including attendance, schedules, training, and performance documentation.
- Maintain daily operational reports, logs, and required documentation.
- Assist with payroll and timekeeping by reviewing employee hours for accuracy.
- Assist with employee onboarding and required paperwork.
- Maintain organized digital and physical records.
- Enter and maintain accurate information in company systems and software.
- Handle confidential employee and company information appropriately.
Fleet Management
- Ensure company vehicles are safe, clean, and operationally ready for daily use.
- Conduct and/or coordinate vehicle inspections.
- Monitor mileage and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Schedule and coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance, inspection, repair, and service records.
- Coordinate with mechanics, repair facilities, towing services, and other fleet vendors.
- Track vehicle breakdowns, damage, and repairs and communicate issues to management.
- Assist with accident and vehicle damage reporting.
- Monitor vehicle availability and minimize vehicle downtime.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in logistics, transportation, delivery operations, fleet management, or a related field preferred.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
- Comfortable using computers, spreadsheets, email, and operational software.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Dependable, professional, and able to work independently.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
