We are seeking a highly experienced Tooling Manager to oversee tooling operations for a growing foundry specializing in green sand molding. This role is ideal for a leader with deep technical knowledge of molds, dies, and tooling systems who thrives in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.

What You’ll Do as a Tooling Manager:

As the Tooling Manager, you’ll be responsible for the full lifecycle of tooling — from design and build to maintenance and retirement. You’ll manage a skilled team, oversee vendor partnerships, and ensure all tooling meets customer, quality, and cost requirements.

Tooling Manager Duties Include:

• Managing the design, development, procurement, and implementation of new tooling, trim dies, gages, and fixtures.
• Overseeing predictive and preventive maintenance schedules for all tooling and equipment.
• Providing technical support and troubleshooting for tooling-related production issues to minimize downtime.
• Leading, training, and mentoring a team of tooling technicians and engineers.
• Ensuring all tooling meets specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
• Collaborating with engineering, sales, production, vendors, and customers.
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling performance and reduce costs.
• Managing budgets, tooling costs, and procurement of tools, materials, and outsourced services.
• Supervising day-to-day pattern shop and layout room operations.
• Supporting root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality improvement projects.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial/supervisory role.
• Proficiency with CAD software (CATIA, AutoCAD).
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, casting modeling, simulation, and solidification.
• Hands-on experience with CNC machines, lathes, milling, surface grinding, drilling, and welding equipment.
• Familiarity with Toyota Production System and continuous improvement (Kaizen).
• Strong leadership, organization, and project management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to mentor and develop a skilled trades team.
