A well-established and growing commercial general contracting firm is seeking a qualified Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. The organization delivers a diverse range of projects, including multi-family housing, medical facilities, religious institutions, higher education, hospitality, and financial institutions.
Controller Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Accounting Department, ensuring all accounting transactions are accurately recorded and properly allocated
- Establish, implement, and maintain internal financial controls over accounting and financial procedures
- Monitor, analyze, and communicate the financial performance of projects, investments, and assets
- Provide expert financial insight, analysis, and recommendations to company ownership and executive leadership
- Support strategic decision-making through accurate financial reporting and forecasting
- Oversee and mentor accounting staff to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
Reporting Relationship
- Reports directly to the President / Executive Leadership
Controller Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience performing Controller-level or equivalent accounting responsibilities
- Prior experience within the construction or general contracting industry is preferred but not required
- Management or supervisory experience overseeing 3–5 team members preferred
- Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and demonstrated leadership ability
- CPA certification is a plus
