What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Basic Education Instructor (Part-Time) position at Career Resources, Inc?
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include providing instruction of Adult Basic Education (ABE) materials to assist individuals in increasing their basic reading, writing, and numeracy skills. The instructor will need to do a pre and post-test assessment with each individual in the program utilizing the CASAS Reading and Math assessment tools. This position is part time in the evenings.
JOB DUTIES:
- 10-12 hours per week, which includes class prep and data entry time.
- Provide daily instruction of Adult Basic Education classes focusing on improving individuals reading, writing, and numeracy skills
- Administer and evaluate pre and post-test assessments to adequately determine a student’s academic level and need
- Responsible for recording all student’s attendance, performance, and progress
- Identify any barriers to success a student is facing and work collaboratively to develop a service plan as necessary
- Develop and maintain all curriculum for necessary ABE subject areas
- Provide guidance to students which includes but is not limited to: intake assessment, reviewing classroom progress, periodic check-ins, 1:1 tutoring, referring to outside services if necessary
- Assist the program Director in collecting and adhering to all State of Connecticut Adult Basic Education reporting requirements as well as any mandated company reporting procedures
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, or a minimum of 4 years work experience in a related field. Must have or be able to obtain Adult Basic Ed certification. All applicants must have teaching experience and the ability to work as a part of a team.
