QUALIFICATIONS:
An associate degree and three years’ experience in the social service or criminal justice field. Education may be substituted with relevant experience in some cases.
GENERAL FUNCTION:
In conjunction with staff of the City of Bridgeport, the Case Manager will receive referrals from community partners and assess clients’ needs in order to make appropriate referrals to local social service providers, employers and educational opportunities. The Case will be working with a population of perpetrators of and/or those at risk of gun violence.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Case Management of STEEP clients
Assessment and referral to community-based providers
Entering all relevant documentation into Veoci database Attendance of regular Office of Violence Prevention meetings.
Monthly reporting to City of Bridgeport Office of Violence Prevention.
Qualifications:
Background and understanding of issues related to prison reentry and justice impacted individuals.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
Work Schedule:
STEEP Case Manager will work at the Greater Bridgeport Reentry Welcome Center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and a community setting on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Case Manager is expected to be reachable by phone and email from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday - Friday.
Requirements:
Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field. 3 years case management experience.
Experience teaching or training; strong public speaking skills.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
Ability to pass criminal background check, as this position requires the candidate to work inside prison facilities.
Experience working with participants that are justice involved.
Experience working in a gender responsive environment and with female participants.
High level of adaptability; able to change plans daily and triage work as needed.
Familiarity with Microsoft Suite and virtual conferencing platforms.
Bi-lingual candidates preferred
Pay: $50,000.00 per year
