The Collections Manager oversees the A/R collection efforts to ensure timely payments, reduced DSO, and strong customer relationships. This role manages the daily operations of the collections team, develops collection strategies, and works cross-functionally to resolve billing issues that delay payment.
Responsibilities:
· Manage the daily workflow of the collections team to ensure timely follow-up on all past-due accounts.
· Monitor aging reports and prioritize high-risk accounts with structured action plans.
· Review and approve payment plans, settlements, and escalated account issues.
· Maintain and improve key metrics, collection percentage, and monthly cash targets.
· Work across departments (Billing, Accounting, Customer Service, etc.) to resolve invoice discrepancies or disputes.
· Communicate professionally with customers to negotiate payments and maintain positive relationships.
· Supervise, train, and develop collections representatives.
· Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching.
· Set weekly and monthly performance goals and track results.
· Prepare weekly and monthly reports, aging trends, high-risk accounts, and team performance.
· Analyze collection data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
· Present data-driven insights to leadership using standard reporting tools.
· Ensure compliance with company policies, credit terms, and applicable regulations.
· Streamline collection processes to increase efficiency and improve cash flow.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance etc. is highly preferred
· 3–5 years of experience in collections or accounts receivable.
· Experience managing or mentoring a team.
· Strong understanding of AR, billing, and credit processes.
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
· Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
· Experience with Power BI or similar reporting/analytics tools.
· Proficiency with accounting or ERP systems.
· Strong analytical and reporting skills with a focus on data accuracy and trend identification.
