What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding Software Engineer position at Career Renew?
We are looking for a Founding Software Engineer with 0-8 years of experience to join our founding team and help build AI systems that control enterprise spend at scale. You'll work alongside former early leaders at Zip ($2.2B procure-tech startup) to solve complex data problems for F500 customers: think dirty data, massive volume, and real bottom-line impact. This is not a flashy consumer AI play; it's a deeply technical, enterprise-grade challenge backed by $5M from 8VC and Jeff Lawson (Twilio founder). If you want to found a company in the future, this is the perfect training ground.
What will you be doing?
-
Building and shipping full-stack product features end-to-end as a core member of the founding engineering team
-
Solving hard data problems at scale: continuously verifying what enterprises have negotiated vs. what they've paid across massive volumes of dirty data
-
Making strategic product and technical decisions that shape the company's direction from day one
-
Working directly with enterprise customers (F500s in CPG, retail, healthcare) to understand their problems and deliver solutions
-
Contributing to AI/LLM systems that drive millions in savings for the world's largest organizations
Impressive, relevant work history at top-tier companies: FAANG, brand-name tech (Airbnb, Figma, Datadog-tier), or Series A/B startups backed by reputable VCs
Excited about working in a deep enterprise B2B / procurement space: solving dirty data problems at massive scale for F500s
0 - 8 years of experience in full-stack software engineering
Full-stack, front-end, or back-end product engineering experience shipping real products (leaning either direction is fine)
Top CS program required for new grads
Full-stack application development (shipped real products end to end)
Former founder or founding engineer at a reputable, VC-backed startup (highest-caliber profile)
Experience with modern LLM systems, evals, or frameworks
Enjoys talking to and helping enterprise customers
Culture fit with a 25–28 year old founding team (early-career, high energy, wants to build 0-1)
