About the job:
Serves as the senior on-site leader for VOA High School, responsible for the overall success, sustainability, and quality of all programming and curriculum delivery. This position provides strategic leadership, instructional oversight, operational management, financial management, and staff supervision to ensure strong student outcomes, regulatory compliance, a positive and inclusive school culture, and long-term program viability.
Essentials:
Strategic & Program Leadership
- Lead VOA High School in alignment with Volunteers of America MN/WI's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.
- Set short- and long-term strategic goals that drive high-quality outcomes, responsiveness to community needs, and financial stability.
- Stay up to date with industry knowledge and trends and demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit in exploring new program models, external partnerships, or evolving best practices that are financially sustainable and mission aligned.
- Monitor student enrollment trends and align program design and resource allocation accordingly.
Financial Management
- Manage VOA High School's finances and monitor day-to-day spending to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Annually develop and recommend a balanced school budget and monitor monthly financial reports.
- Oversee outreach, marketing, and enrollment efforts to support stable funding.
- Expand funding through grants, contracts, and fundraising in partnership with Mission Advancement.
- Assist the VP of Health and Education in securing and managing program contracts, grants, and other funding sources.
Public Relations and Outreach
- Seek opportunities to network and collaborate with other community providers, referral sources, policy makers, and administrators by actively representing VOA High School.
- In partnership with executive leadership, provide program leadership in advocacy work with external stakeholders (MPS, MFAS, Legislature)
- Ensure that regular communication occurs to provide staff, students, and families with information regarding school-related goals, programming, and operations.
Staff Leadership & supervision
- Directly and indirectly supervise school staff, including licensed teachers, support staff, and program leads.
- Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, retention, evaluation, and separation in collaboration with HR.
- Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and feedback to ensure effective practice and role clarity.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and monitor progress toward individual development goals.
Operations & Compliance
- Oversee day-to-day school operations and programming to maximize student learning and organizational effectiveness.
- Ensure the supervision and safety of students, staff, and visitors.
- Lead efforts on the School Improvement Planning process in collaboration with school staff.
- Review student and program documentation completed by staff for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Oversee compliance with all licensing and regulatory requirements, including MDE, MPS, Special Education, and Title I.
- All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field. Master's or Doctoral Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Administration, preferred.
- Valid State of Minnesota Teaching License.
- Minimum 5 years of licensed teaching and/or school-based experience.
- Minimum 5 years of education leadership or administrative leadership.
- Demonstrate success leading teams, managing complex organizations, and improving outcomes.
- Experience managing program budgets and grants.
