Job Summary
The Hargreaves lab aims to understand how epigenetic processes, and particularly SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling, regulate immune cell differentiation and function and how mutations in SWI/SNF subunits give rise to diseases such as cancer. In particular, the lab is examining how SWI/SNF complexes collaborate with transcription factors and other epigenetic processes to license enhancer activation in response to developmental and environmental signals. Further, the lab is investigating the therapeutic mechanisms underlying mutations in SWI/SNF complex subunits which occur at high frequency in human cancer, based on our recent evidence that these mutations result in improved responsiveness to immunotherapy via upregulation of immune signaling.
The ideal candidate will be a molecular and cellular biologist who has experience in biochemistry, molecular biology techniques, next-generation sequencing, flow cytometry, or tumor-immune studies. Ideal candidates should be intellectually curious, highly productive, driven to uncover new and impactful biology, and enjoy working in a committed and diverse team. The postdoc will join a vibrant group of molecular biologists, cell biologists and computational biologists to work in a team that is determined to address the role of epigenetic regulation of cancer biology and inflammation.

What We Can Offer
The full postdoctoral salary range for wet lab opportunities is $70,500-$78,000 (see below). This range covers the entire postdoctoral training period; recent Ph.D. graduates should expect an offer at or close to $70,500 (minimum of the salary range). Salk Institute provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the institute reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
