A Texas construction company is seeking a Controller to lead its accounting function across multiple business lines including government construction, material production, logistics, and equipment management. Full-scope role with direct ownership of close, reporting, compliance, audit, and enterprise systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of accounting experience, construction industry strongly preferred
- Knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and owner/vendor billing
- Proficiency in a major construction accounting platforms
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the monthly and annual close process and ensure GAAP compliance
- Prepare and review journal entries, financial statements, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Oversee Sales, Franchise, and Payroll tax compliance and filings
- Manage the annual audit and external auditor relationship
- Maintain and improve internal controls; report financial performance to senior management
