About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Legal Assistant to support a busy legal team within a well-established law practice. This role will primarily support attorneys and paralegals working across Family Law, Civil Litigation, and General Practice matters.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong administrative and communication skills, and enjoy being a key part of a collaborative legal support team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to attorneys and paralegals across multiple practice areas.
- Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including receiving, opening, and distributing mail.
- Prepare, proofread, and transcribe legal correspondence, client communications, and engagement documentation.
- Maintain and organise both electronic and physical client files.
- Coordinate attorney calendars, appointments, meetings, court deadlines, and scheduling requirements.
- Assist with electronic court filings and document management.
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, government offices, and other legal professionals.
- Answer and direct telephone enquiries.
- Process expense reports, credit card reconciliations, scanning, filing, and document production tasks.
- Record and maintain attorney time entries and billing information.
- Provide administrative coverage and support to other members of the legal support team when required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years' experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar legal support role.
- Experience using PACER to access court records, pleadings, and docket information.
- Familiarity with state court filing procedures and county court systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Professional, proactive, and team-oriented approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.
