Veterinarian Technician

Compensation: $20/hr. - $25/hr.

Schedule: Monday -Thursday (9am-12pm / 2-hour lunch / 2pm-4:30pm)

Job Title: Veterinary Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The Veterinary Technician will assist veterinarians in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of animals in a clinical setting. This role requires excellent technical skills, a passion for animal welfare, and the ability to communicate effectively with both clients and the medical team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in Patient Care:
  
  Provide hands-on care to animals, including administering medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Diagnostic Procedures:
  
  Assist in collecting lab samples (blood, urine, feces), perform laboratory tests, and operate diagnostic equipment such as X-rays, ultrasound, and blood analyzers.
• Surgical Assistance:
  
  Prepare animals for surgery, monitor anesthesia during procedures, and assist the veterinarian during surgeries.
• Client Communication:
  
  Educate clients on animal health, treatments, and aftercare procedures. Address any questions or concerns they may have regarding their pet's health.
• Record Keeping:
  
  Maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.
• Patient Monitoring:
  
  Monitor the condition of animals post-procedure or during hospitalization and provide ongoing care as needed.
• Inventory Management:
  
  Manage medical supplies and medications, ensuring that the clinic has the necessary items on hand.
• Emergency Care:
  
  Provide first aid and emergency care for animals as required, especially in urgent or critical situations.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or related field (preferred).
• State licensure or certification as a veterinary technician (as required by state regulations).
• Proven experience in a veterinary clinic or animal healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of animal health, care procedures, and medical terminology.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor with animals and clients.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position, with the possibility of weekend and holiday shifts.
• Work in a clinical or hospital setting with exposure to animals of various sizes and species.
• May require the lifting of animals and equipment up to a certain weight.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move animals of various sizes.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and be on feet for extended periods.
• Dexterity to perform technical tasks like administering injections, taking blood samples, etc.

Salary : $24,000 - $52,000
