Position Summary

This position is responsible for all aspects of developing a competitive women’s and men’s cross country/track and field program in the Big Sky Conference. This includes, but is not limited to: coaching, recruiting, and retaining student-athletes; managing daily administrative duties of the program; fundraising and public relations; supervising assistants; adhering to all rules and regulations of the university, NCAA, and Big Sky.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum five years collegiate coaching/club coaching/collegiate competition.
  • Demonstrate excellent professional/interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the total welfare of female and male student-athletes.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing a successful Division I men’s and women’s cross-country I track and field program both academically and athletically.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coaching both men and women.
  • Experience as a head coach, NCAA Division I, coaching at multiple levels, and program building experience preferred.
  • Ties to the Northwest and West Coast Junior Colleges preferred.
  • A skillset/ability that reflects commitment to student-athlete welfare and development
  • Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills

Work Days/Hours Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement

Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity. The starting annual salary for this position will be between $61,620 and $65,000 but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
